Equine Sale Ads: Do's and Dont's!

Updated: Oct 15, 2018

Have a #horse for sale? Looking to buy? All of us horse lover's have seen a few (million) equine #sale ads in our time and some draw our attention and some...not so much. Creating a great sale #ad has a few components and the most important...QUALITY PICTURES! I cannot stress this enough because I really have seen first hand how big of a difference high quality #pictures make when trying to #sell a horse. When you have high quality pictures of your horse to use for #advertising, not only does your ad look more #professional, you are also showcasing your horse in the best way possible. Did you know that a cell phone distorts images? That is why when using your cell phone, it may make your horse look a lot longer, shorter, lankier, etc and obviously when you are advertising your horse to the public that first impression really counts!

Above is a great example of a sale photo that correctly shows the horse. The horse is positioned so that the conformation of their body is easily seen, their is very little in the background to distract the eye away from the horse and the horse is relatively clean with a nice halter on. In my opinion, a plain leather halter is ideal for sale photos but if you dont have one, a solid color halter will do. Bright colors or something with a loud pattern will distract the eye away from the horse. A background with little to no distractions is VERY important. A nice, clean barn aisle way is always a great option or an outside location with no "clutter" is great too!

So, next time you have a horse for sale and need to take some sale photos, keep this list in mind!

1) High Quality Picture (DSLR Camera is Best)

2) Background with Little to No Distractions

3) Level ground

4) Proper Horse Setup for Conformation Photos

5) Clean Horse

6) Plain and Clean Halter/Tack
